Over 220 participants from 22 clubs in the country have applied for participation in the individual starts in the sport orientation competition for the “Shumen Fortress – Siven Cup”, which will take place in the surroundings of the village of Madara and on the territory of the national historical and archaeological reserve of the same name from 1 to 3 September. For the mixed relay, requests have been made by 21 clubs. This was announced today by the press center of the Municipality of Shumen. The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the competition is 25 August.
This year’s race will feature contestants aged from 12 to 65 on specially prepared routes for 20 different age groups – 10 for men and 10 for women. There will also be an additional demonstration route for children under 10 years of age with the help of guidance guides instructors or parents who can take part in the event.
The orienteering club “Madarski konnik” in Shumen invites the citizens of the municipality to participate in the demonstration routes of the competition. Participation is free of charge. All participating children will receive incentives. The Orienteering Race is the successor of the “1300 Years of Bulgaria Cup” (from 1971 to 1981). Since 1982 it has been named “Shumen Fortress Cup” and since 1991 – “Shumen Fortress – Siven” Cup.
